Geometric costume jewelry on my fingers :)

I love geometric jewelry! Never would I have thought that I would be lusting over triangular shaped jewelry. It pretty much started when I spied on the House of Harlow collection and this necklace:

I love Nicole Ritchie!!
Since then, I've always had a soft spot for any sort of shape that comes in jewelry :) Here's some other examples of geometric jewelry:

an interesting way to use spheres and cubes :)

A cool mix of southern american inspired patterns and geometric shapes!

a diamonds a girls best friend ;)

if you want to reach your dreams, just strap a dream catcher to your chest :)

these look like kewl retarded milk cartons :)

A really nice pyramid ring from House of Harlow :)

Inspired by this trend I went and bought myself a nice set of gold triangular rings :).

They came in a set of 2 :) This pose makes my face look skinnier!
Mewoorrrrrwwwwww, excuse my crazy asian pose.

Here is a clearer picture of the rings :) The hardest part is figuring out which fingers to wear them on!
A close up of the rings :)
I've been wearing these everyday :)!! <3!!

Black studded boots, Chanel and Kesha

I love black boots. I can't say I used to be a huge wearer of black boots, but after discovering the comforts of docs (Dr. Martins) I haven't been able to go back. Not to mention how hot they look with a pair of nice leggings and a baggy cardigan for a simple casual chic outfit. I'm more inclined to go with a mid length, since my legs are not the longest so the ankle height type of boots looks quite good on me, and less of a hassle than finding a knee length pair that is ACTUALLY knee length :P (not thigh height). Lucky for me a mid length boot is a knee length boot and I save money, WOOO  :).

I've been trying to find a pair of black studded boots lately, for those days where you want to look slightly rebellious. Think studded boots, black tights, a baggy jumper with tousled hair and a slouchy bag. If you want to take rebellious to the next level check out Kesha's outfit:

Ahh Kesha, you are too cool!

It's also an awesome way to tone down a feminine outfit
So I started my shopping expedition online. Nothing really caught my fancy on eBay so I decided to head over to google to get some inspiration, and then, I found the PERFECT BOOT!
*cue heavenly music* I spent the next hour stalking these pair of Chanel boots!!! And of course they had to be released at least 1 year ago and they are nowhere to be found!! Much less in my tiny foot size!!! I would have handed over so much money to whoever had a pair of these.....RIP my dream of owning these Chanel boots.

how GORGEOUS are these??
While wandering around, I stumbled upon this pair of boots from Wanted Shoes Co. They are by ROC and priced at around $150 and they are so nice!! As I thought about it though, I figured - I want the studs in gold!! So that's it I'll be making my own pair soon with gold studs and I'll be sure to include a tutorial for you girlies :) Here are the shots from my little shoe searching expedition:

The shape and the low heel are very nice!
I thought these were the cutest studded gumboots :)
Wish me luck :D!

Goals for this blog

Window shopping adventures - for girls on a budget

We all love looking at pretty things :), but it doesn't mean we have to buy it. This I have learnt the hard way, though a shopping addiction.

In high school we had uniforms, probably because girls could concentrate on studying and not shopping. But when university hit we could wear whatever we want whenever we wanted, and man some of the girls were stylish. I blame you guys for my addiction :P. your clothes were a way to communicate your identity, and I wanted to be cool :) so off I went to buy things that were pretty, too many things. So many I found stuff I bought on my bedroom floor that I didn't remember buying and never wore and I had lay bys all over town. I guess you start to realize that you have a shopping problem - but no didn't stop me, I kept buying.

So now I have switched to admiring the pretty things through window shopping. It's a cheaper exercise :) and you only buy something when you can't stop thinking about it! That cut back a lot of your purchases :) there are some pretty cool trends coming out this season!

One of them is Fluro shoes!!! A bit retro but loving it!

Also found some bright clutches. Love the mix of color and metal

The power of photoshop - before and after!

I'm one of those people that are really picky about the photos of me that go up online, yes I am slightly vain, but hey - at least I admit it :) Ok maybe a bit more than slightly vain. Anywhoo the secret to all this is PHOTOSHOP!!!

Obsessed with it since high school

I think my obsession with photoshopping photo's started back in high school when we first discovered "dream photos" which is a photo you take at a korean store and then they photoshop the crap out of you until your are unrecognisable but damn hot. Well hot in asian standards like pasty skin, big black eyes no nose and a small mouth. Something like that. I remember one of them turned out so good I scanned it in and sent to all the unsuspecting boys online. I got a lot of fans from the photo, even to the point where a random guy would send back a photo of me and ask if it was me. Thank goodness I never met any of them in real life :P. If they did well, sucked in :P

What you should fix on your face

Anywho, over the years I kinda just got better at photoshop. I started off making blurry photos using the dodge, burn and blur tools. I thought blurring was the only way to make your skin look nicer. I don't have any of my old photos but I probably would have laughed at how stupid I looked. Fast forward, I actually photoshop my photos less than I did before, well it just looks more natural. The things I would focus on is:

Eyebags - omg they make you look disgusting and since I never get any sleep these are almost a permanat thing :P Photoshop does wonders for eyebags!

Overshadowed parts of your face - unfortunately, we don't have permanent photography lights shining on us all the time so sometimes the lights just make your face look uneven. This is an easy fix if the lighting isn't TOO bad. Man I wish I had real life photoshop :D

Dry lips - I'm guilty as charged for not always wearing lip balm, in fact I think my boyfriend puts it on more often than I do and I love picking at my lips. This means bad news for my lips in photos. But thank goodness for the airbrush tool :)

Anything you think is too fat - There are proper ways of un-fattening yourself and I'm not an expert so I just use the smudge tool. Can de-fatten parts of your body including face, waist arms and legs if the photo permits. Beats going on a diet :)

Those are the basic things you can photoshop out to look like an above average human being. It's the equivalent of sleeping 8 hours a day, eating healthy food, wearing moisturiser and lip balm and being able to find places where flattering lighting exists. Well I could do all that or I can live my life online and depend on photoshop :)

There are a few extra things you can do with photoshop - like put on more make up. In my example I put on falsies and some eyeliner and lip tint. All without putting more crap on my lazy face. BONUS!! Girls throw out your make up drawers :) You just need to d/l a few custom brushes!!

OMG I look like a transvestite!!

So for those of you not familiar with photoshop I'm probably not making a whole lot of sense right now but I promise to do a tutorial sometime. I actually started working on one and realised 3/4 of a way through that I looked like a transvestite, so I decided to cut my losses and do a quick one for now and do the tutorial later. I am NOT posting up my transvestite like photo ew. I must remind you I am NOT a professional and if my techniques end up making you look like a tranny - I apologise for scarring you, but I think I know why that happened now so....trust me :)

Now for the reveal!

Ok so here is proof that photoshop is awesome!!! I turned a really shitty picture (I took it with an slr on a setting that I had no idea on - boyfriend was out, in front of a random wall with really bad yellow lighting) with very little make up on (just some eyeliner because that's hard to replicate and I couldn't find my make up bag) into something half decent! Oh right I forgot to say, have decent hair, because that's pretty hard to change.

Dark circles? check Bad lighting? check Flaky lips? eww yes check! Really badly applied makeup? check!
Colors are so much nicer, and I have really nice eyelashes that I painted on :)!!! Beautiful eyelashes? check. Pouty lips? check! Thinner nose? check! Nice skin with no eyebags? check!

This overall is a pretty rough job, I'd say about 10 minutes worth, but it's enough to be decent so I'm happy with it! There's something therapeutic about working on photoshop :) Now that most of my wireframes for DapperLook is complete I wanted to play on it some more.

Well there you go :) I'll probably do a tutorial sometime if you guys wanna learn. Time to play some diablo :)

Some things will never be the same again

It's times like this where I sit here and I think of all the things that were - but isn't right now. I've been sitting here for an hour wondering if I should write this post or not, but I think I will. I've committed to being honest truthful and open, see this blog, and I will. Time to pour thee heart out. <3 ===>

And then we fail...

We all have them, the failed relationships that litter our past, both lovers and friends. Sometimes a smell reminds us of the fun times that we had together, or a sound or a place. Whatever it is, sometimes I can't help but become saddened that those strong and happy relationships we had in that past will never be the same again. It's not always a bad thing, because at any one time we all have enriching relationships that keeps us powering on through life and I'm grateful for them. I guess I can't be greedy and want it all, life isn't like that.

A pleasant reminder...

I guess tonight was one of those nights where the memories with someone that I grew fond of came rushing back into my head. I can't really blame her for putting us in a situation where we don't really feel comfortable even looking at each other, it was my choice to make and I made it. Despite what I chose, I can't help but smile at the times we had together and the mischief we got up to. I hope one day that it wont be strange and things will go back to normal but I'm ready to accept that some things will never be the same again...sorry for being a bad friend...

I still miss her though :(

Wengie is sadfacing  - and I miss when I was young and things were simple

Make up post: I'm burning with ambition!

If you are female, you are most likely to be obsessed with MAC. I'm guilty of spending way too much money on these cute little pots of goodness, it's a bit of an indulgence! My newest make up tutorial was made because some lovely girl requested it, and I'm happy to oblige.

What I used in this make up tutorial was MAC's mineralized eyeshadow duo called illusionary burning ambition, or in other words a brown and gold combo. I love how complicated the names of the products are when really it's just a shimmery brown and gold :).

I had fun filming this tutorial, after I watched the playback however , not so fun :P I still haven't gotten over the embarrassed feeling when you watch yourself on camera again. Ash was also nice enough to point out how abruptly I started the video "SO I MADE THIS VIDEO" -- end shouting... It also rekindled my love for this eyeshadow, I used to use this everyday, but for the past 6 months it's been sitting unloved in my drawer.

I hope you enjoy it, and give it a go with similar colors if you don't have the pallet :)

Here are some photos of the look:

Add lip pout :{}

How are you doing??
This pose makes my face look smaller :D + pout for extra awesomeness

I had to take a photo with mikki :) *Meow!!*
And the video...

YouTube comments are so entertaining

The best  bit about putting videos up on YouTube is just reading the bunch of comments that come through - some which are downright hilarious. It seems like on YouTube everyone's not afraid to say what they think and being the biggest smart-ass makes you popular. Being Australia, you get a lot of questions about your accent. Most people think you sound weird, or English and sometimes Canadian.

What you can do with $2

I used to spend so much money on clothes, I had this idea that branded clothing made me cooler, but I think anyone can look good without spending a lot of money.

My $2 floral cotton on dress was paired with:
Hat from Hong Kong $5,
Jacket from Mike & Chris $650,
Shoes from eBay $39

I used to be obsessed with expensive fashion

I guess my obsession with fashion and especially Australian fashion brand such as sass an bide, tsubi or ksubi as they are called these days, Alice McCall an so forth began in uni hen I took my advertising major. The people in my accounting major looked like major bums, so I felt pretty well dressed in that crowd, but as soon as I started taking my advertising subjects, it opened to me a whole new world (cue Disney song). Girls there wore the nicest designer jeans carrying Chloe bags, and I wanted in. I ended up spending a small fortune on Chloe bags, louboutins and Australian designer jeans.

But I realized now with a cupboard full of clothes, you don't need to spend a fortune on clothes to look good, it's all about how you accessorize and mix and match. I mean I still get weak at the knees when I'm looking at Chanel but I'm reformed... I hope :)

My cheap fashion find moment

There is an item in my outfit that cost me $2! Yup, for less than the price of your coffee you can buy a cute floral dress from cotton on! In so proud of this find, and you ever get a chance there ate some gems in the market city cotton on clearance store. I've picked up decent cardigans for $5 that was still retailing for full price in their other stores! I think the trick is to get nice accessories so the outfit does not look plain.

Now go out there and find some bargains :)! Would love to see what you can pick up for $2! Or $5 ;)

Corporate Cats! Random LOL

So this is just a random post. Me and my boyfriend got bored and decided to do this:

Hope you enjoy it :)! Please share it if you like it!

So much can happen in so little time - Rhianna Rude Boy Music Video Cover - Behind the scenes

I remade one of my very old pieces to Rhianna because I had to submit a video for the URBANSTAR YouTube Artist contest 2012, unfortunately for me, I didn't realise how hard the song is to sing, silly me! It was pretty fun getting all girly again for this video! Seems like a long while since I danced like a woman :).

A lot can happen in such a little amount of time

beginning my motivational speech ;)
So hi there, you sitting there in your chair :)! I'm sure you have some dreams of your own, and if your not out living them you should start! ASAP! The biggest excuse I find people have is "I don't have time to..." [insert whatever you need to do to live your dream]. And you know what? I used to have the exact same mentality...but I realised something. The things that actually help you get to where you need to get to happen so very quickly! Whatever you are doing now, you are just working towards that moment where it all changes. For example, you may have been dancing your whole life but it takes that one moment when you get the part in an audition or win a competition to really make your dreams a reality, and those moments happen quickly! If you weren't already dancing, you'd never have the opportunity to get to that one moment :). - end motivational speech here.

I've always wanted to entertain people on YouTube (a weird ambition I know), but being someone who doesn't have much video editing experience or "had the time" to, I've hardly done much. In addition I'm scared of looking stupid and don't think what I do is good enough. I've created a few videos here and there with my webcam and imovie but that's as far as it went. Creating a proper high quality video seemed so out of reach and seemed like it took so much effort, but when I was put under pressure - I did it in 3 nights, and I intend to keep working as hard and getting better at this (please hold me accountable and stop me from being lazy!) If you have any pointers for me please let me know :)

3 nights of awesomeness

So as I mentioned above video took 3 nights to pull together and was extremely fun :)! I spent one night teaching the choreography, one night filming and one night editing. I had a lot of help along the way which I'm am really grateful for! So thank you Honey and Cynthia for dancing, Jason Queue for filming with such late notice and last but not least my lovely bf Ash for editing and taking photos on the day :) Also a big thank you to Dance Generation Studios in Epping for providing the lovely venue.

The most fun part of the night was probably playing with the smoke machine smoke hahaahaha - I am quite easy to please.

Here are some photos from the filming. [scroll to the end for the video]

Going through the choreography - note to self - don't sweat too much during this time or it will be caught on camera :P

Some cool artistic captures by Ash through the video camera - it just looks cool!

Just had to add more in because it looks so good :)

The dancers ;) Cynthia being heaps silly and Honey being cheerful and excited as always <3

Cuties <3 :)
hahaha don't mind me this looks abstract!

During one of our breaks, we decided to get some cool shots!

Practiced my duck face :()

The lovely boyfriend Ash ;)

I'm sad I didn't get more shots of Jason but here he is filming the intro scenes. Talented guy :) You must check out his other works!

Good games, good times, awesome experiences

So, for those that have known me for a while, you will remember that I was in love with a game called DDR (which is short for dance dance revolution -  one of the first dancing games that came out). I used to play that game every weekend and I was totally obsessed with it. Well now I dance and teach dancing part-time. So how is this related? Well I got given an opportunity to be featured as part of good game -spawn point on the ABC. They do weekly profiles on people who took skills or loved to play games and made it into a profession or a job. So now I'm sure it's starting to make sense.

I'm really grateful to be given this opportunity, especially since I found out the show has a 40% share of the market when it comes to children TV on Saturday mornings. Although I won't be recognised on the streets anytime soon, it was still extremely fun experience :)!!! So I'd like to say thank you to Lin Jie for giving me this opportunity :), Gavin the sound guy and Susan the camera Lady and of course Goose :)

How the day started

The day started off with filming scenes of me playing DDR and again I had the pleasure to be filmed playing one of my favourite games. I had forgotten how much stamina is needed to play that game. Back when I was young I could play all day, but now I started to die after 3 games. Luckily we got the shots we needed in that time :). It was time for an hours break and lunch.

Back at the studio

The second part of the interview was filmed at the studio. We did a interview set, where I had to stand on a box, because the height difference between me and Goose (the field reporter of the show) was too great. Hahaha TV lies! It felt comfrotable because I got to speak to Goose and ignore the camera.

The dance set

The final part of the day involved me teaching a short routine to Goose. This was extremely fun and he did really well, despite having no formal dancing experience. My students came to support and learn the routine too :) Thank you Ash Pan, Andrew Chong, Davie Pants, Prasith, Joanne or coming along a supporting :)!! Big shout out to you and I was really glad to share the experience with you guys :)!

Good old DDR :) I had fun with my mario hat!

This is us doing the interview - I put this picture in to show you my box I got to stand on!

Hehe, this is our oops we are screwing up moment

I had to put this picture in because goose just looks like he is mind boggled :)

Getting ready to go through our set with the gang!

One on one dance tutorial time :) Goose picked it up so quickly!

Opps we did it again

The South American Dream

With the awesome Victor Caringal
So today was a day where I revisit some old past-times of mine! It has been close to a year (I don't even keep track anymore) since I've seen my good friend Victor Caringal the most awesome photographer. He was actually a finalist in

"Australia’s Top Emerging Editorial Photographer Finalist" competition held by Capture magazine. check out his blog here

This all started with a pair of shorts I bought during my random shopping expedition in the city covered earlier here, and I loved them so much I wanted to have a fun shoot with it. I thought it went well with a south american indian head dress and I'm pretty sure that stole the limelight as soon as I laid my hands on it. I'm sure during the shoot the head dress wore me, not the other way round.

I totally respect models, it's much harder than you think. Most people think modelling is just standing around looking pretty, but it's much more than that. You need to know your body very very well. You need to know how it looks without looking in the mirror and you have to be able to pull various expressions out of thin air as requested by your photographer or photoshoot director. This is all a very big challenge for someone as unco as me, and I'm sure I got away with many many deadpan looks throughout the shoot. Sorry Victor :P!

In addition to being able to control your body, it's not uncommon for models to stand outside in the freezing cold wearing very little (I'm saying this because that's what I had to do today). I guess it wasn't all bad, after a while your body just becomes so numb you don't feel it anymore - don't ask me how healthy that is for you :P.

The funniest part of the whole shoot was when I had to close my eyes on some takes - the combination of heels on soft grass and unco me closing my eyes resulted in me being very wobbly all of a sudden, to the point where my boyfriend had to hold me from behind to get a stable shot.

The actual shoot was shot on film, so I'm hoping that they turned out good :) Victor was fairly excited by the lighting and the composition so I'm going to trust him on this. I'll be sure to post all the photos up as soon as he has developed them. Here are some out-takes taken by my boy Ashley :) I'm sure the pro film shots by Victor is going to be way cooler than this! I'm so excited!!

I was testing my see through top in the wind, hoping it would flutter, but it looks like I'm trying to fly :) Way cool!

Super awesome jewelry from skuxette.com.au

Me trying to hold my arm at an angle - but not too much of an angle. Haha mind blow!
The super duper amazing head dress, makes anyone look cool! (except when Ash tried it it kinda looked gay :P)
We also took some shots without the headdress and with my warm warm trench coat
I think there were 360 shots that we took in this 3 hour long shoot, most of them I hate but a lot that I love. I hate choosing :(

Please like and comment if you enjoyed this post :) or tweet me @wengie
